Obit – Mr. Troy Mofield

A lifelong Hogans Creek Community resident, Mr. Troy Mofield, was discovered deceased at 2:55 a.m. Wednesday morning January 24, 2024 at his home. He was pronounced dead on arrival at 4:23 a.m. at the Riverview Regional Medical Center in Carthage. Mr. Mofield was 57.

Sunday afternoon January 28th funeral services were conducted by Eld. Junior Dickerson, at 3 p.m. from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Mofield Family lot in the Garden of Prayer at the Smith County Memorial Gardens.

One of four children, three sons and a daughter, he was born Troy Hayes Mofield at the former McFarland Hospital in Lebanon on August 15, 1966 and was the youngest of the four children of Mrs. Maude Ella Christian Mofield of the Hogans Creek Community and the late Charlie Ray Mofield who died at the age of 71 on November 15, 2006.

Mr. Mofield was a member of the 1984 graduating class at Smith County High School where he was in the Spanish Club his freshman year and his sophomore and junior year he was a member of the H. O. S. A. club and his senior year participated in the V. I. C. A.

Until his retirement, due to a disability in 2021, he was the owner and operator of New South Exteriors, a vinyl siding company he had founded.

Mr. Mofield was saved at the age of 15 in 1981 and was of the Missionary Baptist faith.

Surviving in addition to Troy’s mother, Mrs. Maude, is his daughter, Chelsea Mofield of the Hogans Creek Community; sister, Judy Mofield Smith and husband Greg of Lebanon; two brothers, Tommy Mofield and wife Teresa, Tracy Mofield and wife Marcie; all of the Hogans Creek Community; fiancé, Robin Watts of the Hogans Creek Community; and mother of his daughter, Alta Lee, also of the Hogans Creek Community.
