A retired U. S. Postmaster, Ms. Linda Overstreet age 80 of the Granville Community, was pronounced dead on arrival at 1:39 p.m. Saturday afternoon February 3, 2024 at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville after suffering An apparent fatal heart attack at her Pinnacle Lane home.
Memorial services are scheduled to be conducted Friday afternoon February 9th at 5 p.m. from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home. Bro. Chris Reagan will officiate.
The Overstreet family will receive friends only on Friday from 2 p.m. until the memorial services at Sanderson in Carthage.
Born Linda Lou Cline in Dunlap in Sequatchie County, Tennessee on November 17, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Avery Christopher Cline who died March 18, 1976 at the age of 61 and Mildred Vivian Pickett Cline who died September 9, 2005 at the age of 92.
A sister, Delores Cline Hamrick preceded Ms. Overstreet in death on September 21, 1999 at the age of 59.
Ms. Overstreet was a 1960 graduate of the Sequatchie County High School.
She was a member of the Liberty Church of Christ in Granville.
She began her career with the United States Postal service as postmaster of the Elmwood Post Office and retired in 2004 as the postmaster at the Chestnut Mound Post Office, with a career that spanned over twenty five years.
She was a former member of the Carthage Chapter # 190 Order of the Eastern Star.
Ms. Overstreet was a member of the United States National Association of Post Masters.
She is survived by her two daughters, Mitzi Overstreet of the Elmwood Community, Ginger Overstreet Ramsey and husband Stanley of the Rawls Creek Community, sister, Roma Cline Heard of Hueytown, Alabama; five grandchildren, Tiffany Ramsey of Gordonsville, Jonathan Mungle and wife Kimberly, Megan Sebers all of the Elmwood Community, Samantha Lee and husband Johnny of the Pleasant Shade Community, Mikaela Ramsey of the Rawls Creek Community; seven great grandchildren, Nyla Mungle, Lauren Mungle Colton Sebers, Jensen Sebers and Sophia Avery, Jay and Joshua Lee one great-great-grandson, Marcel Mungle, caregiver and special friend, Donna Thackxton.
