Obit – Mrs. Nancy Young

Retired dietician, Mrs. Nancy Young of Cookeville, died at the age of 89 at her Allen Drive home surrounded by her loving family. She was pronounced deceased at 6:08 p.m. Wednesday evening February 21, 2024 by Avalon Hospice of Livingston who had been assisting the family with her care.

Mrs. Young was at the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home where her funeral services were conducted on Monday afternoon February 26th at 3 p.m. with Chaplain Dwight Henry officiating.

Mrs. Young was forwarded to the Day Funeral Home in Randolph, Vermont for services and interment will be beside her husband in the Branch View Cemetery in South Royalton in Windsor County, Vermont.

The youngest of four children, she was born Nancy Ethel Preston at the Randolph Hospital in Randolph in Orange County, New York and was one of three daughters and a son of the late William Francis Preston who died at the age of 68 on June 8, 1974 and Mae Irene Corce Preston who died at the age of 68 on June 28, 1975 also at the age of 68.

All three of her siblings preceded her in death, Elwyn Young, Joyce Preston and Shirley Irene Preston Porter who died May 9, 2018 at the age of 90.

Mrs. Young was a 1953 graduate of Randolph High School.

In February of 1965 she was united in marriage to Floyd Luther Young who preceded her in death on March 20, 1995 at the age of 72 following thirty years of marriage.

She was first employed in the dietary department at the Randolph Hospital in Randolph, Vermont in 1955 and retired from the Mary McClellan Hospital in Cambridge, New York.

Mrs. Young was of the protestant faith.

The family relocated to the Grant Community from Cambridge, New York in 1993.

Surviving are the four daughters, Celestia Burch of Lebanon, Joyce Myers and husband Benny of the Dodson Branch Community; Bridgett Reed of Inverness, Florida, Terri Reagan of Bennington, Vermont; two sons, Mark Young of Lebanon, Fred Whittier of Lake George, New York; fourteen grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
