Obit – Mrs. Georgiana Hackett
Mrs. Georgiana Hackett age 75, of Cookeville and formerly of Lafayette, transitioned to her heavenly home on Monday afternoon May 6, 2024 at the family home and was being lovingly cared for by Caris Hospice of Cookeville
Mrs. Hackett’s pastor, Eld. Scott Rigsby, officiated at the 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon May 11th funeral services from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Hackett family lot at the Sanderson Cemetery in the Pleasant Shade Community with Eld. Gerald Ragland officiating.
She was born Marilyn Georgiana Jenkins in Nashville on June 26, 1948 and was one of three children, a daughter and two sons, of the late George Delbert Jenkins and Alma Madeline Smith Jenkins and her grandmother who raised her, Ola Mae Smith.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, twins Bill and Jackie Jenkins.
Mrs. Hackett was a 1966 graduate of Macon County High School and received her Associates of Arts degree in Business Administration from Volunteer State Community College in Gallatin.
At the Pleasant Shade Upper Cumberland Presbyterian Church, she was united in marriage to Pleasant Shade native and former Tennessee State Trooper Hughie Hackett. The wedding ceremony was performed by then church pastor, Eld. Herman “Jake” Collins on August 9, 2003.
Mrs. Hackett retired in 2009 as a professional staffing consultant and later did consulting work for H. G. Staffing.
She was a member of the Pleasant Shade Upper Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Surviving in addition to her husband Hughie of almost twenty one years is her daughter, Michelle Nichols and Liz Charak of Greer, South Carolina; three step sons, Brian Hackett and wife Ashlee of Carthage, Joe Hackett and wife Ashleigh of Joplin, Missouri, Ken Hackett and wife Ashley of the Hillsboro Community in Coffee County; three grandchildren, Piper Hackett, Harrison Hackett, and Charlotte Hackett.
The Hackett family requests memorials to the Sanderson Cemetery Mowing Fund.
