Obit – Mr. Jimmy Robertson

Mr. Jimmy Robertson age 69 of Alexandria was pronounced deceased at 11:18 p.m. Wednesday evening July 17, 2024 at the TriStar Centennial Medical Center in Nashville shortly after being transferred from HighPoint Health-Riverview E. R. suffering from an aortic aneurysm.

Funeral services from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home were conducted on Saturday afternoon July 20th by Eld. Rickey Scurlock.

At Mr. Robertson request he will be cremated and that will be performed at the Cumberland Family Services in Algood.

He was the sixth of seven children, three daughters and four sons born to the late John Paul Robertson who died November 16, 1996 at the age of 82 and Katherine Elizabeth Coleman Robertson who died April 29, 2006 at the age of 84, he was born James Franklin Robertson in Nashville on May 3, 1955.

Two of his six siblings preceded him in death, a sister Gwen Robertson Shores December 1, 2015 at the age of 71, a brother, Arthur Eugene “Buster” Robertson died on January 14, 2010 at the age of 60.

Mr. Robertson was a member of the 1973 graduating class at the Smith County High School where he majored in General Building Trades. He was also a member of the Vocational Industrial club the final three years and a member of the Pep club all four years of high school.

He was united in marriage on March 17, 1990 to Clanton, Alabama native, the former Belinda Sue Baker. The ceremony was performed at the Smith County Courthouse by then County Clerk, Jimmy Norris. 

Mr. Robertson was saved at the age of 8 and was of the Baptist faith.

At the time of his death he was employed by the Ryder Truck Corporation as a day driver.

Surviving in addition to his wife of over thirty four years are two daughters, Trista Lynch and husband Josh of the Brush Creek Community, Hope Miller Iozia and husband Peter of Mount Juliet; two sons, Jimmy Robertson Jr. and wife Kristina of Columbus, Indiana, Ken Foster and wife Alicia of the Rickman Community; two sisters, Sue Robertson Stillwell and husband Bobby of Goodletsville, Neda Robertson Overstreet and husband Sammy of the Brush Creek Community, Ray Robertson of Lafayette, Eddie Robertson and wife Fredia of Carthage; eight grandchildren.
