Obit – Mrs. Mary Katherine “Chat” Agee Blackburn
Mrs. Mary Katherine “Chat” Agee Blackburn, age 93, of Brush Creek, TN, passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2024.
Mrs. Blackburn was born June 15, 1931, in the Rawls Creek Community of Smith County, TN, a daughter of the late Velvin Agee and Sadie Mae Shoemake Agee. She married John Douglas Blackburn on April 22, 1947 and he preceded her in death on October 5, 2009. Mrs. Blackburn retired from Robertshaw Controls in Lebanon, TN. She was a longtime member of the New Middleton Baptist Church.
Mrs. Blackburn is survived by Children; Kathy (Terry) Vantrease of Lebanon, TN, and Larry (Karen) Blackburn of Lebanon, TN. Brother; Joe (Betty) Agee of Alexandria, TN. Four grandchildren; Brian (Jennifer) Blackburn, Brad (Abigail) Blackburn, Jeremy (Adrienne Foster) Vantrease, and Jeffrey (Whitney) Vantrease. Nine great-grandchildren; Bryson Blackburn, Carleigh Blackburn, Levi Blackburn, Emma Blackburn, Miles Blackburn, Parker (Harley) Vantrease, Jackon Vantrease, Sadie Vantrease, and Gracie Foster.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Blackburn were conducted from the Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Homes on Monday, November 25, 2024 at 1PM with Bro. B.J. Thomason and Bro. Mark Stinnett officiating. Interment followed in the Brush Creek Cemetery with Bro. Terry Vantrease officiating.
The family requested memorials be made to the New Middleton Baptist Church.
The family would like to give special recognition to Dr. Will Sherwood for the special care Mrs. Blackburn received over the last several years.
