Obit – Mrs. Faye Cook

One of the Lord’s angels was summoned to eternity at her South Lovers Lane home on Thursday morning June 12, 2025 at 9:50 a.m. With her family at her bedside Mrs. Faye Cook of the Rome Community entered eternal rest peacefully at 9:50 a.m. Thursday morning June 12, 2025. She was under the care of Gentiva Hospice of Livingston.

Mrs. Cook was at the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home where her services were scheduled for Monday morning June 16th at 11 a.m. with her pastor, Pastor Steve Warren officiating. Burial followed in the Cook family lot at the Wilson County Memorial Park in Lebanon.

She was the twelfth of fourteen children of the late Edith Elizabeth Parker and was born Edna Faye Parker in Stanaford in Raleigh County, West Virginia on January 31, 1942.

The ten siblings preceding her in death were; Mildred Ilene Danley, Eleanore Danley Victory, Charlotte May Hatfield, Thomas McLaughlin, Maxine Elisabeth Adams-Rogers, Charles Austin McLaughlin, Phyllis Rogers, Nancy Loretta Cline, Donald Rex McLaughlin and Arnold Ray McLaughlin.

Mrs. Cook was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Victoria Danielle “Tori” Cook who died May 17, 2002 at the age of 15.

Mrs. Cook was a 1961 graduate of Baileysville High School in Wyoming County, Virginia.

At Baileysville High is where she became the high school sweetheart of James A. Cook, who was the love of her life and she, the love of his life. They were united in holy matrimony in Pineville, West Virginia on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1961, shortly after their high school graduation.

Mrs. Cook was a member of Faith Chapel Ministries in Baxter, and being well versed in God’s word, had for many years taught Sunday School.

Perhaps her favorite hobby or pastime was jewelry, of which she possessed a great amount, which astounded all of the family at exactly how much she did own.

When in public she was always dressed impeccably, every hair in place, and outfitted with pieces of that beautiful jewelry.

A true Southern Belle, she was a joy and pleasure to know and be in the presence of.

Surviving in addition to her husband James of over sixty-three years are three sons, Craig Steven Cook and fiancée Kim, Robert Earl Cook, Dennis Ray Adams all of the Rome Community; brother, Ronald Keith McLaughlin and wife Janet of Beckley, West Virginia, Shirley Lea Shannon of Mt. Vernon, Ohio, Frances Carol Cantrell of Brenton, West Virginia; six grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

If you prefer to do a memorial, it may be made to her loving church, Faith Chapel.
