Obit – Mrs. Betty Murray
Mrs. Betty Murray age 95, a longtime Dixon Springs resident and homemaker. was pronounced deceased at 10:25 a.m. Sunday morning October 5, 2025 at the Highpoint Health-Riverview Medical Center in Carthage where she was admitted Saturday afternoon October 4th.
Funeral services from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home were conducted at 3 p.m. on Monday afternoon October 13th with Pastor Chad Woodard officiating. Burial followed beside her husband in the Beasley-Brooks section at the Dixon Springs Cemetery.
She was born Betty Lou Billingsley in Celina in Clay County on April 18, 1930 and was the oldest of two daughters of the late Boyd Billingsley who died at the age of 63 on March 6, 1971 and Gertrude Anderson Billingsley who died at the age of 30 on July 16, 1937.
On June 19, 1950 she was united in marriage to Clay County native, Rassie Gonzo (Razzie) Murray. He preceded her in death on April 4, 2008 at the age of 85 following almost fifty-eight years of marriage.
Mrs. Murray was also preceded in death by a grandson Thomas Jason (Tommy) Murray, who died at the age of 44 on July 4, 2025.
Mrs. Murray was an attendee of the Saving Grace Ministries in the New Harmony Community of Macon County.
Surviving are her two daughters, Brenda Murray of the Dixon Springs Community, Linda Murray Brown of Lafayette; three sons, Walter Murray of the Dixon Springs Community, Robert Murray and wife Beverly of Hartsville, Terry Murray and wife Diane of the Rome Community; sister; Julia Ann Billingsley Driver of Lafayette; nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
The Murray family has requested memorials be made to Saving Grace Ministries.
