Obit – Mr. James L. Brimm
Mr. James L. Brimm, a beloved figure in the Gallatin community, passed away on February 16, 2026, at the age of 94. Born on February 25, 1931, in Gallatin, Tennessee, James lived a life marked by service, dedication, and deep-rooted values that touched the hearts of all who knew him.
Funeral services from the Crestview Funeral Home in Gallatin were conducted on Friday afternoon February 20th with Bro. Dickie Johnson officiating. Burial followed beside his wife in the Crestview Cemetery.
Mr. Brimm was the son of the late James Bell “J. B.” Brimm who died at the age of 81 on March 7, 1986 and Maude Stanley Barnes Brimm who died at the age of 71 on June 26, 1975.
Family members preceding Mr. Brimm in death was the love of his life and beloved wife of seventy years, Nashville native, the former Peggy Ann “Fella” McCrary Brimm, who preceded him in death on April 16, 2020 at the age of 88. Mr. Brimm’s sister, Helen Estelle Brimm Barnes preceded him in death on May 6, 2002 at the age of 76.
Mr. Brimm never forgot the loss of his son-in-law, Stanley Hawkins who died on October 23, 2021 at the age of 70.
Mr. Brimm had the distinction of serving his country as a military police officer in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. This experience instilled in him a profound sense of integrity, which he carried throughout his life. After returning home, he worked at the Gallatin Post Office for over 50 years, becoming a fixture in the community and earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues and patrons alike.
He was not only a man of remarkable character but also a man of faith. He was an active member of Cairo Methodist Church, where he shared his beautiful singing voice as a song leader and imparted knowledge as a Sunday school teacher. His faith and commitment to the church were central to his life and influenced many around him and instilled in them a greater love for Jesus Christ.
Mr. Brimm inherited the family farm, a legacy that had been passed down for over 100 years. James had a love for working the land, enjoying activities such as bushhogging, raising cattle with his father, and cultivating tobacco. This connection to his roots was a source of pride and joy, exemplifying his hardworking nature.
Mr. Brimm also had a passion for sports, being a season ticket holder of Gallatin High School Football since 1974. No matter the weather, he was a steadfast supporter of the team.
He cherished moments spent square dancing with his beloved wife, Peggy, whom he missed dearly after her passing. Her memory was a comforting thought for his family, who take solace in knowing he has been reunited with her.
Mr. James is survived by his children, Cindy Hawkins of Gordonsville, Terri Bentley and husband Al, John Brimm and wife Annette, and Mike Brimm and wife Bev all of Gallatin; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each carrying a piece of his legacy in their hearts. His living family includes grandchildren Chris Hawkins and wife Ann of the Bluff Creek Community, Rachel Alvis and husband Trey of the Grant Community, Libby Boone and husband Nathan of Gallatin, Becky Rogers and husband Johnny of Gallatin , Brittany Piro and husband Andrew of Gallatin, James Brimm of Gallatin, Joshua Brimm and wife Trinity also of Gallatin, Jessica Mason and husband Will, Christina Dougal and husband Luke, Matt Brimm and wife Amber all of Nashville, Allison Hightower and husband Josh of Gallatin, and Hannah Williams and husband Devon Gallatin; and great-grandchildren Addison Hawkins, Christian Hawkins, Lana Alvis, Bo Boone, Eliza Boone, Luke Rogers, Lincoln Rogers, Levi Rogers, Gavin Stover, Mason Stover, Liam Mason, Logan Mason, Olivia Mason, Kylie Piro, Kaylen Hightower, Eve Brimm, Hazel Brimm, Ruby Dougal, Asher Dougal, and Lottie Brimm.
His legacy of love, hard work, and unwavering faith leaves an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Mr. James L. Brimm will be dearly missed but forever remembered for his honesty, integrity, and the love he showed to his family and friends.
