Obit – Mr. John Lambert

Mr. John Lambert, of the Buffalo Valley Community, entered into his awaiting eternal home with his family at his bedside at 5:15 a.m. Saturday morning July 4, 2026 at the age of 89 at his Nashville Highway home in Putnam County. His family was all present with his wife holding his hand as the Lord called him to his heavenly reward. Gentiva Hospice of Cookeville was assisting the family.

It was fitting that an Army veteran who served in Germany in re-stabilization following the Korean War would leave this earth on July 4th and the family immediately draped his body with an American Flag, with which he was transported to the funeral home.

Funeral services were scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday morning July 8th from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home. Pastor Bobby Ray officiated and burial followed in the Lambert Family lot at the Dickens Cemetery in the Maggart Community.

There was a military chapel service by the American Legion Post 57 of Carthage, of which Mr. Lambert was a member.

He was born John King Lambert in the Enigma Community of Smith County on February 15, 1937 and was the oldest of five children, three sons and two daughters of the late Charlie Brown Lambert who died at the age of 67 on August 14, 1981 and Clara Estelle King Lambert who died at the age of 75 on June 1, 1992.

Three of his siblings preceded him in death, George Wilburn Lambert who died January 17, 2003 at the age of 62, Charles Edward Lambert who died October 8, 2009 at the age of 67 and Joann Lambert Bush who died December 2, 2019 at the age of 80.

He was united in marriage in Peoria, Illinois on October 12, 1959 to the former Jane Brown with whom they spent almost sixty-seven years of a wonderful marriage. The ceremony was performed by Probate Judge, Charles G. Crisna.

Mr. Lambert attended Smith County High School and was a recipient of his General Education Degree.

Mr. Lambert was a member of the New Life Christian Fellowship Church where he served as a Deacon.

He retired from the AVCO Corporation in Nashville on May 31 1999 where he was employed as a fabricator of airplane wings.

Mr. Lambert proudly served our country with the United States Army and was assigned to Germany for one year, ten months, and eleven days where he was a lineman and Field Communication Specialist. He was inducted in Nashville on September 13, 1955 and was honorably discharged with the rank of Specialist 4th Class at Fort Knox, Kentucky, on September 12, 1958. For his three years of meritorious service, he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal.

Mr. Lambert so enjoyed the outside, mowing and maintaining his yard and had hiked the Appalachian Trail from the beginning in Springer Mountain, Georgia to the Northern termination on the Katahdin Mountain in Baxter State Park, Maine.

In Mr. Lambert’s earlier years of life, he enjoyed beekeeping.

Surviving in addition to his wife Jane are their three daughters, Debra Jean Lamber of Nashville, Donna Lambert Austin and husband Tom of Baxter, Doris Ann Cummings and husband George of Fleming Island, Florida; three bonus children, Brandi Stout McRedmon and husband Graham of Nashville, Mark Stout and wife Pam of Cookeville, Natalie Stout Adcock and husband Clark of Cookeville, sister, Hilda Lambert Bailey of the Chestnut Mound Community; four grandchildren, Thomas Austin and wife Hailee, Kimberly Austin all of Baxter, Andrew Davis and wife Cheyenne of Fleming Island, Florida, Taylor Davis and wife Amy Jo of Clarksville; three great-grandchildren.
