Obit – Mr. Darrel Piatt
Mr. Darrel Piatt of the Antioch Community of Jackson County, died at 7:52 a.m. Wednesday morning August 6, 2025 at the Smith County Health and Rehabilitation Center following a period of declining health. He was 70.
Mr. Piatt was at the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home. He was cremated at Cumberland Family Services in Algood and there are no formal services scheduled.
Born Darrel Junior Piatt in Timber, Missouri on February 10, 1955, he was one of seven children of the late Chester McDonald “Donnie” Piatt who died on February 12, 1977 at the age of 64 and Pearl Wave Enloe Piatt who died on March 21, 1991 at the age of 73.
Five of his six siblings preceded him in death. Joy Marie Watson died March 29, 1998 at the age of 57, Norma Lee “Floy” Piatt died March 21, 2018 at the age of 76, Teddy Earl “Ted” Piatt died January 4, 2001 at the age of 56, Ray Edward Piatt died August 26, 2019 at the age of 67, and Hazel Arlene Gregory died March 22, 2025 at the age of 75.
Mr. Piatt was a 1973 graduate of Eminence High School in Eminence, Missouri.. He was a former manager for Wal-Mart, having retired in 2014. He was of the Pentecostal faith.
He enjoyed cooking for his family and friends. He was a man of few words but could always make people laugh.
Surviving is his daughter, Kristy Pipkin & husband Nathan of Union, MO; son, Michael Brendel of Washington, MO; grandchildren, Allison, Luci, Jamieson, Augustine, and Mavis; a sister, Darlene Wallace of El Reno, OK; a brother-in-law, Jack Gregory of the Tanglewood Community.
