School directors’ contract surfaces

Discussion of the director of schools contract is on the agenda for the county school board’s regularly scheduled August meeting.

The school board will be meeting for its August session beginning at 5 p.m., Tuesday (August 19).

At the school board’s July meeting Chairman Ricky Shoulders noted Director Barry Smith had approximately a year left in the current contract.

During the meeting, the chairman also noted he planned to run for re-election in 2026 but was stepping aside as chairman of the school board.

A new chairman could be seated as soon as this week.

A special called “Executive Session Board Meeting” is set for 5 p.m., Friday at the central office.
