Hogans Creek resident discovers passion in crafts

By Eddie West Staff Writer

A retired teacher, Hogans Creek resident Dorothy Moyers taught thousands of students during  her 35 year career.

Today, she’s the student.

Whether it’s creating with cloth and other fabrics, preparing and preserving foods or skillfully drawing a picture (pencil art), Moyers has developed a passion for crafting.

Following the unexpected death of her husband and with the urging of a close friend, Moyers decided to take up crafting and discovered an unknown passion as well as once hidden talents.

“I began crafting about three years ago with the encouragement from Jill Wilmore as an outlet from the passing of my husband,” explains Moyers.

A Pleasant Shade resident, Wilmore is another one of our county’s talented crafters.

“I like to keep my hands active,” Moyers relates.
