Eventful Halloween coming up next week

It promises to be a festive Halloween around the county.

This year the holiday falls on a weekend night, Friday, October 31.

Events Halloween night will include the Hometown Halloween in downtown Carthage from 6-9 p.m. The event will feature Trunk-or-Treat, Corn Maze and The Haunt. Meanwhile, the Gordonsville Events Committee will hold the Gordonsville Halloween Bash which will take place on Main Street in Gordonsville. The Gordonsville Halloween Bash will take place from 5-8 p.m.

Also individual churches and organizations are holding various activities for the holiday.

•There will be an event in the Chestnut Mound community on Halloween night at the Chestnut Mound Christian Fellowship Church. Activities will be held from 5-8 p.m., Friday, October 31. The event will include hot dogs, drinks and goodies for the entire family. The church is located at 916 Cookeville Highway.

•In Carthage, First Baptist Church and the Carthage United Methodist Church will hold a joint event for Halloween on Wednesday, October 29. Youth are expected to be coming and going to events located at each of the churches as well as the First Baptist Church parking lot located on Main Street at the corner of Fite Avenue. For safety reasons, expect a heavy police presence, signs, cones and other safety precautions. A crosswalk is also located at the corner of Main Street and Fite Avenue which will be patrolled.
