Obit – Mrs. Cathy Bennett Smith

Mrs. Cathy Bennett Smith, age 67, of Manchester, TN, passed away on Saturday August 8, 2026. Born in Nashville, TN on August 29, 1958, she was a daughter of the late R J Bennett and Ruby Pauline Burton Bennett. She was also preceded by a brother, Randall Dale Bennett, Sr., brother-in-law Kerry Pennington. Cathy graduated from East High School in Nashville, TN. She worked as a waitress at Cracker Barrell and worked as a Digital Imaging Tech for HCA Stonecrest Hospital. She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; sitting on the front porch drinking coffee and feeding hummingbirds and squirrels.

Cathy is survived by three children: Eric (Sharon) Bennett of Manchester, TN, Rachel Childress of Murfreesboro, TN and Damien Smith of Nashville, TN: grandchildren; Jesse (Angel) Bennett, Nathan Bennett Kelly, Skyler (Hailey) Bennett, Destinie Bennett, Hannah (Devon) Obrien, Derrick (Cayce) Bennett, Tierra (Michael) Sullivan, Trent Childress, D. J. Smith, Maggie Smith Jaden Smith, and Mayson Smith: great-grandchildren; Sadie, Eli, Ryder, Clayton, Itzelle, Riverlynn and Jace: siblings; Kenneth (Freda) Bennett of Westmorland, TN, Anita Pennington of Murfreesboro, TN and Regina (Jeff) Hicks of Walter Hill, TN.

Cathy was at the Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Homes where funeral services were conducted on Wednesday August 12, 2026, at 1PM with Pastor Matt Harris officiating. Interment followed in the Gordonsville Cemetery, Gordonsville, TN.

Cathy’s family received friends on Tuesday August 11, 2026, from 3PM until 7PM and on Wednesday August 12, 2026, from 11AM until service time at 1PM.
