Obit – Mr. Casey Miller

Graveltown Community resident, Mr. Casey Miller, died peacefully on Saturday afternoon May 25, 2024 at his Pleasant Shade home with his family at his bedside. He was pronounced deceased at 3:05 p.m. by Gentiva Hospice of Livingston who had assisted the family with his care during his battle with cancer. Mr. Miller was 42.

Bro. Richie Gibbs officiated at the 1 p.m. Thursday afternoon graveside services from the Smith County Memorial Gardens. Burial followed near his father-in-law, Raybon “Tedie” Smith in the Garden of Gethsemane.

He was one of three children, a son and two daughters, of the late Danny Edward Miller who died as a result of cancer on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 2014 at the age of 69 and Leathie Ola Spivey Miller who also died of cancer nine months and eleven days later on August 7, 2015 at the age of 64 and was born Casey Edward Miller at the former Carthage General Hospital in South Carthage on October 13, 1981.

At the home of his mother-in-law, Jeanette Hailey Smith on June 10, 2018, he was united in marriage by Eld. Michael Nesbitt to the former Liane Lacille Smith.

Mr. Miller was saved at an early age and as a youth his family attended the Bide Russell Missionary Baptist Church in the Riddleton Community where the parents were members.

Mr. Miller was employed by the Marriott Hospitality Corporation as the chief of maintenance at their Cookeville locations.

Surviving in addition to his wife Liane, Mr. Miller is survived by six children, Cassie Miller of Nashville, Brandon Gibbs, Hailey Gibbs, Tommy and Terry Gibbs and Destiny Gibbs all of Carthage; two sisters, Julie Miller Johnson and husband Phillip of Hartsville, Amy Miller Hart and husband Jeff of Baxter; three grandchildren, Tripp Gibbs, Briley Gibbs and Kora-Ann Gibbs.
