Carthage budget set for 2024-2025 fiscal year

The town of Carthage has approved its 2024-2025 fiscal year budget.
With the new budget, the city’s property tax rate will remain at .8168 cent.
The second and final reading came Thursday night during the city council’s June meeting.
The city budget was approved on first reading in May.
The city’s latest budget was devised during several workshops held in recent weeks.
New city hall plan update:
Plans for a new city hall continue to move forward.
In the latest development, Mayor Steve Babcock said there were plans for an architect to look at the current city hall (James A. Clay Municipal Building/Spring Street) and report back to the council.
The meeting with the architect was described by the mayor as a question and answer session.
