A man was found not guilty of criminal charges related to a 2022 deadly tractor-trailer truck accident in which two people were killed on Interstate 40.

LaFollette resident Brandon Lee Brock, who was 35 at the time of the accident, was found not guilty by a Smith County jury of two counts of vehicular homicide and two counts of criminally negligent homicide during a trial which took place just before the Labor Day holiday weekend.

The trial began on Tuesday, August 26, and continued through late Friday, August 29, when jurors returned a verdict of not guilty on all charges.

The deadly four vehicle wreck occurred in March of 2022 just east of the Gordonsville Exit.

In April of 2023, a Smith County Grand Jury returned a four count sealed indictment charging Brock with the two counts of vehicular homicide and two counts of criminally negligent homicide.

The wreck was a chain-reaction accident and included three tractor-trailer trucks and a pickup truck in which two the two victims were traveling.

The victims were a 28 year old man from Washington, and a 72 year old man from North Carolina.

In addition to the two fatalities, one person was injured.
