Defeated wreck claims one

One person died as a result of a wreck which occurred in the Defeated community Sunday afternoon.

Elmwood resident and businessman Jeffrey Parker, 64, was the victim of an accident which occurred at 4:26 p.m., on Highway 85/Defeated Creek Highway.

The location of the accident was 321 Highway 85/Defeated Creek Highway at Martin’s Grocery.

The wreck involved a Dodge Ram 1500 driven by Williams Thompson Jr., 78, a Tennessee resident, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP). Thompson was not inured in the accident.

The victim (Parker) was operating a Harley Davidson Electra Glide FLH when the accident occurred, according to THP.

According to a preliminary report issued by THP, Thompson was traveling north on Highway 85/Defeated Creek Highway and Parker was traveling south. As the vehicles met, the pickup truck driven by Thompson turned into the south bound lane as to pull into a grocery store (Martin’s Grocery) parking lot and struck the left side of Harley Davidson driven by Parker. After impact, both vehicles came to a final rest in the parking lot or the market.

Parker is the owner of Caney Fork Motors located in Elmwood.
