Dead end
By Eddie West Staff Writer
An almost three million dollar road project located in the Lancaster community on Highway 141/Lancaster Highway is well underway.
An embankment slide occurred in March during a heavy rainfall near the DeKalb County line causing the pavement to buckle.
For a period, one lane of the state highway remained open with the use of a portable stoplight installed by the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT).
The roadway had collapsed almost to the center line of the state highway before the road was shutdown and work began.
In July, the repair work project was bid by the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT).
The low bid was submitted by Dement Construction Group at $2,926,194.60 which was awarded the project.
Other bids included: Cleary Construction Inc.—$3,326,633 and Rogers Group Inc.—$3,530,505.65.
The state estimated cost for the project was $2,862,874.50
