(An investigation into a shooting incident which occurred in the Stonewall community was ongoing at presstime. Because of the Thanksgiving holiday, the Courier had an early deadline for this week’s edition and only limited information was available at the time. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) is investigating a shooting incident which occurred Wednesday morning in the Stonewall community.

The incident occurred at a residence in the 200 block of Stonewall Road at the intersection of Smith Road.

One person received a single gunshot wound from a handgun in the incident.

Sheriff Steve Hopper said the incident was domestic in nature and involved a dispute with an uncle, nephew and niece.

The uncle was wounded during the incident.

Shortly after 8 a.m., multiple sheriffs department officers responded to the scene.

An ambulance and first responders also responded to the shooting.

The ambulance staged at the boatramp located at the Caney Fork River Trousdale Ferry Pike which connects to Stonewall Road until sheriffs department deputies secured the scene.

The individual shot in the incident was reportedly inside the residence. The handgun was said to be in the house but in another room.
