Christmas spirit lives inside Coogan’s Smith County residence
By Eddie West Staff Writer
Stepping inside the front door to Mikie and Ed Coogan’s home is not an ordinary experience.
An eight feet tall snowman, which greets guests just inside the home’s entrance, is the first sign of an out of the ordinary experience which lies ahead.
Next to catch the eye are the precisely decorated Christmas trees of all sizes as well as garland decorated with red and green ribbon and bows lining the home’s staircase and a second story walkway leading to the upstairs bedrooms.
Another eye-catcher is strategically placed hand-stitched Christmas themed cloth items such as quilts.
So much to take in leads to an instinctively pause while being engulfed by a heart-warming feeling commonly experienced during the Christmas holiday season.
Santa would be proud of such a sight.
Whether a family friend or a first-time guest to the household, host Mikie Coogan is eager to take individuals on a guided tour of the couples two story shrine to Christmas.
Rooms throughout the house are decorated with themed Christmas trees, colorful handmade stitchery and vintage Christmas decor, all appearing to be the work of an experienced professional interior decorator.
